The Yorkshire and Humber Assembly is a voluntary body which ensures that broad regional interests are properly represented in regional strategies such as transport, land use, planning and improving quality of life. It promotes and lobbies for the best deal for Yorkshire and the Humber both in Whitehall and Brussels. It also scrutinises Yorkshire Forward to ensure spending is in line with the regions economic strategy.
Its budget comes from Government funding, subscriptions from Local Authorities and dedicated grants for carrying out specific work.
Parish and Town Councils in the area have a representative on the Assembly from the Yorkshire Local Councils Association and also nominated substitutes.
